Caring for an Aging Princess
Well, I knew I'd have to deal with it sooner or later, but I wish it could be later, like in about 20 years. We got some bad news about Golly this week - she has heart disease. Her enlarged heart makes it very important that everything in Golly's life stay stress-free. Thinking about it, though, that's pretty much Golly's life now, and has been for the last 12 years since she came to live with us! Seriously, though, we'll be keeping a much closer eye on Golly, and indulge her whenever we can. But don't tell her that, because she'd expect more treats!

Oh dear... poor you! Golly probably thinks she has it made being a big ol couch potato now...
It's so hard when we realize that our dogs are getting old.. I saw some grey in Targ's muzzle yesterday.. and he's 6... old man already.

Thanks for your kind thoughts, everyone - Golly's on medication and we'll be monitoring her condition. Not to mention adding pillows, providing treats and extra walkies!
Oh, poor Golly! And poor both of you. There's possibly nothing harder than this to face. My thoughts are with you, more than you can know.

Thanks again for all your kind thoughts, everyone. The temperature here has been in the 80s for the last few days, so the air conditioning has been working hard! No heat stress for Golly! Which is really hard because one of her favorite things is to lie on the baking sidewalk!
