Happy Leap Day!

It comes around every 4 years and makes Spring that much further away. But, we know that it's on the way because we listened to a Cubs game yesterday! Yes, it was live, not a recording from last season. Spring training games are great, because anything is possible. All the Cubs players will stay healthy, Ron Santo will travel to New York for playoff games, the Cubs will win the World Series, and the 100-year-old curse will finally be lifted! Wrigley Field will stay Wrigley Field. There will be no construction on the road I'm travelling, and yet there are no potholes. And last night's 2 inches will be the last snow of the season! I'm dreaming big!

It's the most wonderful place

I truly feel sorry for anybody who's never been to Wrigley Field. I know how hapless the Cubs are. I've been a fan for decades now. But if you don't have a good time at Wrigley - you have no appreciation for the finer things in life. It's the only place in the world that Old Style Beer tastes wonderful. And really awful nachos are delicious.
There's no better place for people-watching. And if you just happen to love baseball - you'll think it's heaven on earth.
Can you tell we had a great time at the game yesterday? It doesn't hurt that the Cubs won.

The most wonderful time of the year

It's spring. And much as I'd love to rhapsodize about all the things I love at this time of year - one is most important. The Cubs. Baseball is back and it's too early in the season to start saying "there's always next year."

I was in the store the other day and there was a display of Old Style Beer in Cubs "collectible" bottles. Talk about adding insult to injury. Even if I liked beer, which I don't, I wouldn't take Old Style home. The only place Old Style tastes good is at Wrigley Field.
