Roc Relaxing at Work

Today is vacuuming day at home! Roc, like many pups, gets much too excited when the vacuum comes out of the closet. Ordinarily it would just be cute (Roc is all of 10 pounds) and loud, but since his "cardiac incident," it could also be dangerous for him. So he's at work with me today, relaxing. We'll have a good time - we'll play a little with the toys he shoplifted the last time he was here, we'll have lunch, we'll take a couple of walks, and Roc will rest. A good day. - Fran

We both survived!

Last night was the first Agility class for Ceilidh and me in about six months. I took time off because of my chronic hip bursitis, and then to make sure that Ceilidh's heart medication was working.

How'd it go? It was like Ceilidh had been to class the day before and hadn't taken any time off! She sailed over the jumps, did the weave poles quickly - all 12!, climbed the A-frame, did the teeter (OK, it was low, but still!), ran the dog walk, even did a triple jump! Ceilidh had such a great time last night I felt kind of guilty for taking so much time off.

As for me, I'm kind of stiff and I'll make sure not to miss taking Alleve for a couple of days, but seeing my dog so happy and focused was worth it!

More than just a river in Egypt

So we look at Ceilidh and can't believe anything's wrong with her. If I hadn't seen the EKG for myself, I wouldn't believe it. But there's not much arguing with two separate tests with scarey flat lines that seem to go on forever before that reassuring little bump that says - not done yet!
And she's not. Not by a long shot. Because Ceilidh has no symptoms, her vet says we can work with medication, trying to get her dosage right, seeing what effect it has, etc. Another EKG in three weeks and we'll see where we are.
In the meantime, we intend to ignore the situation entirely, aside from giving her the pills. There's a lovely view from this wonderful place called "denial." Visit anytime!
