A treasure to be prized

There is only one good chew bone in our house. This is it. Today. Ask anyone who has more than one dog - regardless of how many actual bones are in the house, there is only one good one. And the other dog has it.
As long as there's no battling over it, we try to ignore it. One dog has the "good" bone - last evening it was Ceilidh. The others sat and watched her chew it. And drooled. When she was distracted, Dax moved in and grabbed it. And then Ceilidh sat, watched, and drooled.
Dax has a habit of rolling onto her back while she chews, so she loses control of the "good" bone. It falls to the floor and Ceilidh takes it back. So Dax sits, and watches, and drools.
Roc is a clever little beast. He waited until both girls were distracted and moved in for the "good" bone. Then he trotted it over to his favorite bed to chew on it. While Ceilidh and Dax sat, watched, and drooled.
You'd think it was unique, this bone. Prized above all others. There are six more just like it in the dogs' toybox. Each will have a turn - "Bone of the Day!"

Oh ... we have a couple of those bones here as well! Only the one without the bone (the one who can't have bones) ever lusts for them. The two that can have them, ignore them!

BOL!! Twilight zone...it's happening in every house that inhabits more than on dog I would bet - it sure is in ours! Doo, doo, doo, doo; doo, doo, doo doo. Woofs, Johann

Oh my! Thought our house was the only one with the perfect "prize" bone of the moment. Our problem is, if you give someone else a substitute bone, then whoever has the original bone becomes a collector and wants it for their collection. This usually ends up with NO ONE having a bone to chew. We call the first bone "the Bone of Contention."

My bichons used to battle over chew toys, and the older one could chew and curl her lip simultaneously. She thought she was oh-so-tough, but any creature that reminds one of a cotton ball has no credibility.

my kids do that too.. it's just too funny...

Qor comes over and takes it right out of Targs mouth.. and he just looks around like "huh? What happened?"

Don't you love knowing that the things that are making us laugh are happening in other households, too!

Kahshe - Too bad one of yours can't indulge. Don't you feel so bad for them? Although it's a pain sometimes to remember who can have which treats, foods, toys, etc.

Johann - I can't believe you and Gracie would ever quarrel! (bol)

FMS - "bone of contention" LOVE IT!

FeeFiFoto - I totally cracked up! And you're right, cotton balls have no street cred!

Fuzzy Logic - I know that look! Ceilidh gets it when I'm playing fetch with Roc and accidentally bounce the toy off her head! Then she goes right back to her own!

I can so relate to this post Hope.

Emily likes to steal all the chew bones from Abigail and hide them in my bed. I'll roll over in the middle of the night and one of them will be poking me in the ribs or something.
